Hey, you! Ever had a dream of writing humorous video game articles and reviews? Yes? Well you’re in luck. Game-Flush.com is currently accepting submissions by published and unpublished authors alike. So, if you’d like your writing to be featured in one of our weekly segments, read ahead for the details.
Our requirements are only this:
1. The piece has to be humorous or at least entertaining (that means we have to like reading it).
2. Word count is between 500 and 700 words. (It’s the internet and we don’t want to strain people’s eyes reading our stuff.)
Simple, right? That’s because we’re just so easy!
If by chance you have a longer piece, please be advised, 1,000 words is our strict limit, but only for pieces that you have so much to say you can’t possibly make the 700 limit (that doesn’t mean you should abuse the 1,000 rule–we try not to). Pop-culture references and cross references to other things are always a plus, but not necessary. Use them if you can, but don’t force a reference or joke just to make us happy.
Also, please make sure you’re familiar with our current features on the site. We do have Articles and Reviews, yes, but there’s other content as well. Writing or illustrating one of our Comics is possible, but please send an inquiry letter first. Also, writing for the Early Swirly or Video of the Week at this time is not available, but if you’ve created a video game related video, and want it to reach the Game-Flush.com fans, send us a link. We’re always looking for new, original videos (our only requirement there is that the video can be embedded–hence why we prefer YouTube).
Be advised, at this time, Game-Flush.com is not a paying market. We sincerely apologize about this, as we do believe all artists should be paid for their work and hopefully we can rectify this in the near future. However, for now, you get your work published with a growing site in the video game world, who has a publishing history (in other words, we’re not brand new, nor are we going anywhere). What’s more, if you contribute and are accepted regularly, you might get the coveted position of a unique guest contributor on the About Us page and your own, original nifty avatar, drawn by our very own Corporate Ninja! (Well, we gotta give you something!)
Include a small bio with your writing (about 50 to 100 words). If we like your piece (or not) we’ll contact you and if it is chosen, we’ll run it on the site.
